Is There Still Good Directories To Be Listed In?

Wow…oh 2003 how we miss your optimization.  There was a different world back then where directories were the coolest thing since…Limp Bizkit?  Anyhow it is 2010 and directories have taken a big step to the back in terms of optimization.  Honestly with all the facets of optimization in current times, this is not something that you – the hard working, value your time, making good money person should even consider.

You should (if you even want to do directories) outsource this to someone where their hourly rate will justify their time being spent on not highly weighed tasks.  Because your time should be spent doing things of value instead of the least valued task online that you can do for optimization.

Now every SEO guy has done directory submission, and every ebook you buy from an expert starts with directories.  But honestly, and I am not just saying this.. I have websites that rank really well and have never seen a directory!

But this is not what this post is about, it is about if there is still good directories.  Well…..kinda.

DMOZ – Good luck it’s a long process and usually quite difficult to get in there. But it doesn’t hurt to try.  But your site has to have some value, not an affiliate site that is 3 or 4 pages deep.

Yahoo – Hey I can pay and get listed in their directory….for a year and then it is the same thing over again.  Ok, Yahoo I will be listed in your directory.  But for the ones that are reading this post and want to know a secret that for some reason Yahoo employees don’t even know…go to a foreign Yahoo directory and WALA!  Free Listings for all!

After that go Vertical with your directories.  Besides that don’t spend more than one day submitting to directories.  Times change…remember keyword stuffing?…me neither.

Anyone can submit to directories, not everyone can make quality content that will be linked to because it is excellent content.
